Welcome to Maple Springs University!
A renowned Equestrian University located in Maple Springs, Colorado. Beautiful pristine white picket fences surround most of the campus although the property is too large to surround fully with fencing. Looking out over the land the first things you notice are the 3 prestigious barns on the right hand side of the driveway out past the pastures that line the drive. Then on the left hand side you can see the Main office building set off to the side. And rising up behind it is one of the three large 4 story dorm buildings. All of the buildings except the barns are made of soft weathered grey stone with magnificent swirls of emerald ivy climbing its way up the side. The wooden barns are insulated and white washed with a large Navy Blue and Silver mustang painted across the side. All of the stall doors are made with handsome oak wood and brass nameplates for all the school horses. The empty stalls all have slots for name placards to be inserted into the brass sliders. All the stalls are freshly bedded and all the stalls in mint condition cleaned and stocked to perfection. The tack room is in much the same fashion. All the leathers are polished and gleaming until the scent of leather polish perfumes the air. Past the tack room is a door that leads to one of the indoor arenas, and looking down to the other end of the barn you can see another indoor arena and an office. Heading back outside you can see the many riding rings spread out behind the barn. In the distance you can make out more large buildings that are most likely the class buildings and more dorms. To the left you can just make out the distant trails that are pounded down with hoof prints and stretch over 100 acres of land. Who wouldn’t want to study here?
In the early 1800’s the well-known Blake family got together with a group of investors and opened the soon to be prestigious Maple Springs University. It opened in 1804 as an all-male college. As the college grew in popularity it had to physically grow to accommodate the growing student body. They bought more of the surrounding land and more horses. Slowly the college rose through the ranks until it was finally ranked the #3 best university in the world, and #1 for equestrian studies. It was passed down through the generations of Blake’s as time wore on. The college currently sits on about 2000 acres of land, some donated, and some bought. Its prestigious grounds are a great learning environment for students of all kinds. Now MSU is considered one of if not the most well-renowned universities. But even though it specializes in equine studies there are classes available for almost any major. In the early 1970’s Preston Blake, the current university owner handed the college down to his son Samuel Blake. Although Sam was not too keen on the idea of running an all-male college, he accepted the responsibility for what it was: An honor. He ran the college for 7 years on his own with his father’s input. Things were smooth sailing for the Blake family that is until Sam went on a vacation to his families’ summer home in Florida. He returned with a surprise for his father. He had fallen in love. She was a tall, beautiful brunette with a drive to compete from a small horse farm out in Kentucky who had won her way to the top of the show jumping circuit. She had been competing in a tournament down in Florida that Sam had attended when he saw her. Soon after Sam married to the beautiful Amber Metzler, he brought her out to see the college. Instantly she loved the university and how beautiful it was but felt it was unfair to keep it closed to female students. She convinced him to give it a try and through her womanly wiles she won her way. All through that summer he worked hard to get the college modified and by the end of summer he announced that MSU was going to be opened to all students regardless of gender for the fall semester. His father was outraged that his son would even think of changing such a prestigious school. A family feud ensued and his father stormed out swearing he would have no part in this disaster.
That fall the college gates were opened and for the first time female students helped to fill the halls. Even though they were ecstatic to get a chance to go to such an amazing university the men were furious that their sanctuary had been changed and for females none the less! Preston and his wife moved away from the university not even wanting to be near his son’s disaster. Now Sam and Amber keep the university and barn running all on their own. While Sam looks after the running of the university and the barn full of beautiful, talented, very expensive horses, while amber keeps an eye out for shows and helps with the training. But it’s about to get difficult, Their 2 oldest children are now attending MSU, and what university would be complete without some kind of drama brewing. If you peel back the cool student façade or serious equestrian exteriors you'll find inner drama queens, hidden vices, scars from the past and enough drama to fill a barn. Students aren’t as perfect as they may have you think. While they may have everything perfect out on the course or straight A’s in the classrooms, their personal lives are far from idealistic. Painful pasts, Life dilemmas, a rocky home life, love triangles, relationship drama, and plenty more – College just wouldn’t be complete without it. But there are also the prejudices; many of the male students still detest having women on their campus despite the fact that it’s been 8 years since the school was changed to a co-ed school. Pranks are pulled and rude comments made between the 2, but will the problems ever stop. And now it seems that someone is purposely poisoning horses. At first Sam and Bill were willing to believe it was a coincidence, but when more and more horses were showing up poisoned they could ignore it no longer. But who could be doing such a horrible thing? Could it have anything to do with the threatening notes that ae now being found left for the female students? Think you could figure out this thrilling mystery? Well come on in and sign up, let’s see what you’ve got at MSU.
